Memorial Hospital of Gardena’s Subacute Unit has been awarded a prestigious 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The news was announced earlier this month.
“This is a monumental achievement and a true testament to the exceptional care and dedication our team provides every single day,” said hospital CEO Victor Carrasco in an announcement to staff.
A 5-star rating is the highest honor CMS bestows, placing the Gardena unit among the top healthcare facilities in the nation. Only 10 percent of the subacute facilities in the country hold a 5-star rating.
CMS calculates the ratings based on health inspections, quality measures and staffing, designating 1 to 5 stars for overall quality.
The Subacute Unit at East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital also has achieved a 5-star CMS rating.
“The 5-star recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to patient safety, quality of life, and clinical excellence,” Carrasco said. “It’s an honor earned through the collective efforts of every single member of our team—from our nurses and CNAs to our therapists, support staff, and administrative team.”
