Staff from Memorial Hospital of Gardena attended Career Day at Amatory Elementary School April 28 to talk about the medical field and to share some health tips.
Highlights of the day included Devany Slaughter, RN, director of education, and Janell Baker, LVN, Employee Health, teaching CPR and the Heimlich maneuver to third and fourth grade students.
“The students had so much fun learning—and many of them have small siblings so CPR for infants was included,” Slaughter said. “We were able to connect with the community and establish a relationship with our neighboring elementary school.”
