The Memorial Hospital of Gardena team has grown with the insourcing of Environmental Services (EVS) staff effective July 1.
“This is a significant change from using contract workers to provide housekeeping services in our hospital,” explained hospital CEO Victor Carrasco. “It’s another development in our Pipeline Health system-wide work to restructure our operations for improved efficiency and service.”
As employees of the hospital, 20 individuals will offer improved housekeeping coverage for a cleaner environment and a more positive experience for patients, visitors, employees and physicians.
“This change also will help us achieve some cost savings—including a more controlled inventory of supplies–while giving hospital leadership direct accountability for the team’s performance,” Carrasco added.
Another hospital goal is to foster improved employee morale among the EVS staff members who play a critical role in the care of patients.
The team reports to Silvia Ramirez, who has assumed the expanded role of Environmental Services Supervisor. Ramirez has worked at the Gardena hospital since 2020. She reports to
Javier Martinez, director of Facilities Management and Safety.
