Oritsegbemi “Bemi” Mene-Ejegi is our Exemplary Employee for the month of May. He is a Charge Nurse on the Med-Surg Unit who joined the Gardena team in May 2024.

The award recognizes outstanding employees who demonstrate their commitment to patients, family and co-workers through acts of caring, compassion and excellent customer service.

Mene-Ejegi was nominated by a co-worker who had this to say:

“Bemi,” as we all call him, started here at our hospital as a Vema nurse working on MedSurg 5, and then he became an employee of the hospital working as a Charge Nurse. Bemi is goal- oriented, compassionate, knowledgeable, focused on providing optimal care for all patients and improving patient satisfaction.

His specialty is IV insertion. He has become the expert on the unit and is often called on by other hospital units to assist with difficult IV insertions. He is always willing to assist in any situation and goes above and beyond to make sure that the unit is run properly and that not only the patients, but also their family members are okay. He is also very engaged with the nurses on the unit. He makes it a point to make sure they are doing okay as well.  Bemi is very well liked by his peers, physicians, patients and their family members.

Bemi is always professional with his interaction with patients, families and staff. He thrives under chaotic situations as charge nurse or working on the unit as a staff nurse. He does it all with a smile and maintains a positive attitude.

It is an absolute pleasure for me to nominate Bemi for this award. He is skilled, dedicated and always willing to learn new things for the betterment of his career.”
